there is plenty of work and opportunities there, no matter what's your age, appearance or location and the access is (still) almost free, all you need is a little time, something to sell and a willigness to learn. the knowledge - combined with a critical ability - is probably the most important element, not just to use the technology effectively - and the possibilities there are just amazing - but to resist the insidious, creeping up dis-information, indoctrination and the old-fashioned brain wash on a scale never seen before. you can connect to that new economy at different levels, which we list here - from the lowest to the highest: Level 0. identify what your skills and products are, you might already know, but bear in mind that the logistics of getting this information accross are different. Level 1. "gig worker" - simply place your offers on one or more of the "platforms" that connect seller and buyer, we can give you a list of them, with comments. your offers can be skills, physical goods, expertise or simply any information that might be of use or interest to others. with a bit of persistence you can earn a living and even prosper, there is no cost at this stage, even the time spend is minimal but the side effect of your efforts is growing control of the Internet by large, larger, huge and giant operators. Level 2. "I have a site" - you can use the Web to reach your buyers directly, via email, "social" media, recommendation and and directing them to your own site. the costs are low (web site hosting) but investment of time can be substantial with results uncertain, still, all the benefits come to you and no one else. Level 3. "I know what I am doing" - develop your web site to increase its effectiveness. this is done by adding features (search, comments) and automatising tasks (invoicing, mailing). a web site can also generate direct revenue (sales, subscription). for that you need to learn programming, or hire programmers, that's where it gets complicated -- you can spend vast amount to get absolutely nowhere but benefits from a well built site are potentially enormous - see Level 4 Level 4. this highest, the most effective and sophisticated level, which can be defined as "advanced networking on your own terms" opens virtually unlimited perspectives on a global scale. work with NetCells or similar user network or start your own network - such networks offer various degrees of participation and return, they spread the risk and lower the cost. to use NetCells first you would need to sympathise with our goals, second, have something to contribute - time, skill, knowledge - yes, you can get revenue, free functionality and you will be in good company. to check your compatibility please read further info in ›FAQ#241 |
