1 - The password to your ›Netcells User Zone (NUZ) is what you use to log in to your Account Data and your Site Data (if your site is configured to connect to NUZ), it is NOT normally necessary to give this password to the designer of your site. 2 - The password to your Site Files is what you or your designer would use to alter your web site's appearance (page design etc), connecting via FTP, this password is also used to access your Control Panel (cPanel) where you can alter the email settings (such as email accounts and email account passwords), view site traffic data and do many other things that you probably do not know or care about (you should). Note that Netcells do not store your site password, if lost it will have to be re-set. 3 - The passwords for your individual Email Accounts can be re-set by yourself at any time by logging to your cPanel ( go to 'Mail', then 'Email Accounts', click on 'Change Password' ). Email Account Password is normally different for each account, we do not know your Email Password, do not compromise your privacy and the security of the server by using silly passwords. The Default mail account has no password - this is the account that takes ALL email sent to your domain (anything@mysite.com, somethingelse@mysite.com etc). Accessing your Site's Control Panel is explained in ›FAQ9. Note that all your email accounts can be accessed directly on the server (webmail) using the individual email addresses with respective passwords, as explained in ›FAQ256 If your email account is provided by someone else (ie. your ISP, Hotmail, Yahoo etc) you need to contact them regarding your password problems. Please take the security of your Cell, your Email and your Site login seriously, failure to do so might lead to breach of email confidentiality, account suspension and other problems. Keep your password safe, disguise it if written down, never write down your username, password and the related web address in one place. Do not use silly passwords (your name, your pet's name, your date of birth etc) Do not use dictionary words as passwords as those can be easily cracked. Remember that unscrupulous individuals are waiting to break into your account to send their spam email, or worse. |
