Profile:
a-cube architects are a young market leading practice situated in the Northwest region of England. We provide a comprehensive service to our clients, acting as Concept Designers, Architects, Interior Designers, Project Managers, Contract Administrators and Planning Supervisors. As part of our design ethos, special consideration is made to the operational use and functionality of buildings. We endeavour to make sustainable, efficient buildings of world class quality. This philosophy extends to our choice of materials not just externally, but also in our interior design and concept projects.
Initially, we recognised a gap in the market for an architectural practice that specialises in educational projects for 16 – 19 year olds. Our specialist knowledge in this area has evolved from working on a number of educational projects over the past five years. Seven Further Education and 6th Form College clients employ us across the UK on a variety of developments ranging from £30,000 to £15 million. Current educational projects both on site and on the drawing board include schemes for Kendal College, Furness College and a Library for Ashton-under-Lyne 6th Form College. Our work has been recognised by the Learning Skills Council as a benchmark for other developments within the education sector. Beyond the education sector, we have recently completed a refurbishment for the British Councils Manchester HQ and have several housing projects due on site in the next year. These include a series of projects in Liverpool, for the Steve Biko Housing Association and an 85-unit housing development in North Manchester for Roland Bardsley Construction. Clients such as the Salford Diocese, CDS Housing Association Limited and Cosmopolitan Housing Association Limited, have employed our services for the development of residential and housing schemes. Our award winning interior design schemes have resulted in numerous commissions from private clients nationwide. a-cube are not limited to the design of buildings and non-architectural projects include work for Granada TV’s 60 Minute Make-over and the delivery of workshops at the Lowry Centre for under16’s hoping to gain an insight into architecture. a-cube architects currently employ eight staff and are looking to expand further in the coming months. a-cube’s thirty-something directors pride themselves on not conforming to the norms of the architectural profession both in employment regimes and in design, our young and diverse workforce has a high proportion of ethnic minorities and women. a-cube architects place innovation and quality at the forefront of their design ethos, in an age where budgets are high on everyone’s agenda a-cube are proud of our track record of delivering buildings on time and within budget. In addition to this a-cube can boast that through innovation and imaginative detailing we produce some of the most economically delivered buildings in the education sector. In our short history a-cube architects have already shown that there is a place in the North West for small, young independently minded architects, and that Manchester is the perfect environment to allow these talents to expand. |
