The paperback edition of my book Queen Unseen is published by Music Press - an imprint of John Blake Publishing. Four years on from the original hardback edition, I had chance to reflect, and include new stories, observations and memories, while editing what I felt didn't work; tightening the writing to make the book flow better. The structure and chapters remains the same as the original.

NB: This is NOT a new book, but a revised and edited version of the original hardback edition published in 2011. Paperback edition has quotes and reviews from the original book and a postscript.

Queen Unseen My book of the time I spent with Queen was published as a hardback in October 2011.

The book is available worldwide from Amazon and in Kindle format - in English.

Queen Unseen is an account of the many exciting years I spent on tour, in the recording studio, at video shoots and day-to-day life with one of the world's biggest and best ever rock bands. It is an insightful and humorous account of the 1970s &'80s, for anybody who has ever wondered what working for Queen or a major rock band of that era really entailed. The book is not a chronological history or definitive biography of the band, but my personal story of travelling the world and living the rock and roll lifestyle - to the full!

There are photo sections in the hardback book that contain colour and black & white images from my time with Queen.

Queen Unseen Book

Queen Unseen is an account of the many exciting years I spent on tour, in the recording studio, on video shoots and day to day life with one of the world's biggest and best ever rock bands. It is an insightful, enlightening and humorous account for anybody who has ever wondered what working for Queen, or a major rock band of that era really entailed. The book is not a chronological history or definitive biography of the band, but a personal story of spending my youth travelling the world and living the rock and roll lifestyle - to the full!
My thanks and appreciation go to the many people who have supported and encouraged me in getting my memories published.

The book, first published in 2011 by John Blake Publishing contains photo sections - the original hardback and paperback editions in colour, later editions in monochrome.

The book is available on Amazon. And as an e Book.

PAPERBACK:

The paperback edition of Queen Unseen was published on October 1st 2015 by Music Press - an imprint of John Blake Publishing. Four years on from the original hardback edition, I had the chance to reflect, and include new stories, observations and memories, while editing out material. I tightened the writing to make the book flow better, however, the structure and chapters remains the same.

Overall it is the same book - but improved. The editor says it is !
Personally I think it's a much better read than the first hardback edition - and the e book, audio book and paperback re-prints have the updated text.
The photo sections are as in the original book and a forward section of pages with quotes and reviews on the original book is also included.

Queen
I was fortunate to spend many years in the 1970's and 1980's in the music business - most of those working for rock band Queen. I spent my life traveling the world with one of its biggest and best bands. An amazing journey, which I am grateful to have taken part in.

It's only Rock 'n' Roll - and I liked it.

From time to time I sell my 'Royal Robes' signed limited edition print of Freddie. A2 size poster print on matt art card ( 595x420mm - 23 1/2 x 16 1/2inches) signed and numbered limited edition. Or signed and dedicated if required. This image of Freddie was done spontaneously one evening in 1987 in my studio after a phone call from Freddie, who wanted to do a fun photo. It is the only posed photograph of Freddie wearing his Royal Robes available to buy.

Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing one of the prints.

My 'Royal Robes' photo of Fred has been used many times :

Some of my Photos that were used for Queen covers etc:

While working for Queen I took many professional quality photos of life on the road, the band at work in the studio, on video shoots and taking time out. Many of these were used by Queen for album & singles covers, posters, fan club mags, books, tour programmes, PR and a variety of other media usage.
After leaving Queen I made a new career as an advertising photographer.

Exhibitions:

My 'Queen The Unseen Archive' exhibition opened at the Art Gallery Of Ballarat in Australia on February 20th 2010 to great response, and ran until April 11th.
The photographic exhibition was supplemented by rare Queen memorabilia.

Some photos from the show:

I would like to thank the following Queen fans and my friends and associates for all their help and enthusiasm with this project: Julianna Mitchell: Vernon Reeves: Stefano Pesenti: Martin Skala: Rheinhold Mack: Jessica Keatings: Jeanne Nordstrom: Sheila Hince: Louisa Somerville: Gary Taylor: Chris Wright and Ian Haynes of Rock - It Cargo: Robert Usher at Showfreight

'Queen the unseen archive' exhibition was originally shown at The Proud Gallery in London during summer 2009.
Many thanks to everybody who made the effort to see the show and to all of you of you who purchased prints, posters or postcards.
I hope those of you who saw the show, enjoyed the images which capture the band in a different style and evoke many memories for me of those fantastic times we spent around the world.

The show was a tremendous success in terms of attendance, web site hits and general enquiries - Proud Gallery's best ever.
Thanks again to everybody who contributed.

Miscellaneous
This section is in the process of being updated

I am certainly no authority on Queen records (though I do have a blue Bo Rhap from the limited edition of 200 - No 195 - courtesy of Fred) but items connected directly to touring, such as itineraries, jackets, T shirts, passes etc, I have a very good memory for.

Avoiding fake Queen items; I would always suggest that you always ask for provenance from the seller. Who are they? How did they get it - and from who? If an item is from the 1970s or '80s it's realtively old, and should smell, look and feel old. If something is offered for sale with a COA (Certificate of authenticity) beware! Provenance is what is needed - not something that can be printed out randomly on a computer. If the item is rare and/or expensive then by all means ask for a letter from the seller listing provenance.

EG: A fake NATO pass - no laminated passes were ever issued for this tour.

F_nato.jpg

Tambourine from 1975 UK NATO tour. I used some odd roll of red gaffa tape to secure the foam pad to protect Fred's leg. After that tour black gaffa was always used on Fred's stage tambourines. This is probably the only tambourine from that period in existence.

Ocean Images
Apart from my commercial photography I combine my love of scuba diving with creating photographic images. I wanted a simple approach and went for rangefinder Nikonos V cameras and 1600 ASA Fuji Neopan film with available light; which allowed me to dive, and enjoy the underwater world unencumbered by bulky housings, extension arms, strobes etc. Underwater reportage !

None of my images are digitally created or computer manipulated.

These images are available to licence for commercial advertising, design and editorial purposes. I also have some T shirts and limited edition prints featuring some of these images. For more information please contact me via e mail.
