Don't you think it is futile to try to write your own software ?
Not at all.
Writting your own software can be surprisingly productive, even on a very basic level.

In a futuristic perspective, it seems downright dangerous to leave writing software to the "geeks".
The Geeks speak the language of the machines but rarely have much to say of their own. They do not perform well as the translators, either. Learning a programming language should be considered as basic literacy skill and taught as such.
The survival of the human species might well depend on it.
