SFTP is a connection protocol, explained here: https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+to+Configure+Your+SFTP+Client SFTP is vastly more secure than FTP - you should not use FTP to connect to your site. you will need to download and install on your local computer an SFTP program - there are several of them available free: WinSCP (https://winscp.net/), FileZilla (https://filezilla-project.org/), Cyberduck (https://cyberduck.io/) - just make sure you are downloading and installing the real thing and not some other program pretending to be the legitimate one. once you have the SFTP program follow the instructions, typically: your host name is your domain name, example: deepcyberspace.net your user name is your account name = the same you use to connect to your cPanel, example: deep your password is the same as your cPanel your port is typically 22 but it might be different depending on the server setting, also, it might change at times for security reasons - contact us if you get stuck |
