Traditionally, this is what has been used to put a web site on the server and update it. It is also commonly used for uploading and downloading picture files in journalism. You will need an FTP program to connect to the server. There are many versions of those small programs, many of them free (check the Netcells >Links page) or they come bundled with web design software (Dreamweaver, GoLive etc). The FTP address of your site is the same as your site: mysite.com or ftp.mysite.com, depending on the program you are using. The FTP password is the same as your cPanel password, this is normally given to you when your site is set up, if you forgot it, get in touch and we will re-set it. Remember you can also access your site's files via your cPanel>FileManager This very useful for trouble-shooting as you can change permissions on files and folder, plus, access files that many design programs do not see (.htaccess, robots.txt etc). Most Netcells Users upload the image files via Netcells User Zone (NUZ) - this is easy to manage as a thumbnail is automatically created and you have various options for adding data to your images. |
