when we set up Netcells in the year 2000 we saw the problem of people misappropriating your files and then saying "well, I just found it on the Internet". ever since that problem has grown bigger and bigger, to the point where now if you can't trace the origin of the file then the copyright apparently no longer applies!

that is why we have always insisted that you precede your filenames with your (lowercase) surname followed by '_' - example: smith_tree.jpg, wilson_airplane.jpg that prefix should be removed when adding image to your Site database (tree, airplane, in previous examples) - that is normally done automatically in your User Zone. you should also embed your name, website and copyright information in your images and other files ( in photoshop > File > File Info. your blog files can be named anything you like but the above still applies. you are not doing yourself any favours by naming your images DSC_1210.jpg or such. |
