the Domain Name is a very important part of your Internet presence and strategy -- it can be a very valuble asset.

Names are no longer expensive to acquire but good ones are increasingly difficult to find and if you lose a good Name (by choice or negligence) the chances of getting it back are next to zero. .COM is the king of all domain names - synonymous with a successful web address (no, it does not mean you run a company or are based in USA). if the .com version of your preferred Name is already taken and well established it may not be worthwhile registering a different version of that Name - the .com version will always get most of your traffic! there are many new types of domain names but the most valuable names are the Top Level Domains (TLDs), in this order: 1.com, 2.net, 3.org, 4.eu (if you live in European Community). national names (for example: .co.uk, .de, .it, .fr) are only good if your activity is local and your clients are (and will stay) local, unless you can make some word play (example: donotwaste.it). even if your activity is local you should also register .com and/or .net, if at all possible -- see above. multiple Domain Names all pointing to the same site are a cheap way to increase site traffic and keep the competition at bay. with our ›0Cell formula you can manage any number of those sites from your User Zone (NUZ)! if you are a creative individual your should register without delay your own name (ie. MyName.com), consequences of not doing that could be disastrous - imagine you are Miss Ann Other - a photographer and there is another Miss Ann Other - also a photographer, not as good as you, but - as the owner of AnnOther.com she gets most of the related web traffic and confuses your clients in the process - we know of such cases! to find a good Name make a list of generic words relating to your activity (Keywords) and then think of a Name which combines or includes those words - that will give you the best search engines results (example: you search for good images - imagefishing.net would be an excellent choice of a Name). to make your task easy, send us the list of your prospective names via the Board in NUZ, we will check them all and report back to you. alternatively, tell us the new Name you want via NUZ > Account > Domains > +1. the costs of buying and renewing a Name are generally added to your yearly hosting bill. NUZ (Netcells User Zone) is accessible through a secure connection on: >netcells.net/nuz/. |
