A domain name is your Internet identity - you can always be found by it and, importantly, you can have your own email based on it (me@myname.com, info@myname.com, contact@myname.com etc), thus avoiding problems associated with big commercial email providers. Domain names can be very valuable, as they are the prime target for the search engines. There are two main types of domain names: # international ones (TLDs) - example: .com, .net, .org, .info # national ones .at, .co.uk, .fr, .ch, .us etc You should always try to register the international version of the name, unless your site/business/activity is strictly local. You maintain rights to your domain name for as long as you renew it. All domain names come from a few large wholeseller companies, that keep the public records (WhoIs). If you have domain names with Netcells we normally manage it them for you, the renewal cost is added to your yearly bill, if you want to change anything just alter the Name's settings in your User Zone (NUZ > Account > Domains). To get a new Name click +1 in NUZ > Account > Domains or send us a message. |
