the NetCells uploaders automatically make a thumbnail when you upload an image file - it is generally square, 50, 100 or 150 pixels, gif or png, depending on your site, and placed in the thumbs folder.

however, you can also make a custom thumbnails, using program like Photoshop, replacing the automatic ones - that gives you more creative control. there are various ways to do it, here is one (for Photoshop): 1 crop your image as you like it, but leave some margin for further cropping or error, Select All and Copy that image 2 download and open the thumbnail you want to replace, convert it to RGB format, then Paste your cropped image from the previous step 3 you now have the cropped image floating on top of your original thumbnail, resize that floating image (holding Shift key to maintain ratio) and adjust its position using arrow keys, you might want to make that image semi-transparent to see better. 4 merge down the floating pasted image and save the image in the right format (gif, png) (don't forget to change the opacity to 100% if you made the image semi-transparent in the previous step) 4 upload your new thumbnail image file to your thumbs folder in Organize > Files > ThumbUploader that is all. the thumbnail is automatically matched with the corresponding image - as long as they are both named correctly. you do not need to give the thumbnail a position number or enter it into database. now, remember, your new thumbnail will not show, until you have cleared your browser cache, as explained in: ›FAQ58 |
