It is not difficult to see that the search engine results would be totally useless if anybody could boost them with a simple trick or two. Many people (legitimate and illegitimate) are trying and will offer you this at a price. But this is not likely to work or it will work just for a short time. The sites that break Google rules (which are continually changing) are likely to get penalised in their results. The search results depend on the quality of the information on your site as compared with other sites competing in the same area of interest. What also counts is the number of references (external links) to your site, how often it is updated, although, of course, you can pay Google to put you on top of the page one. Netcells give you all the tools needed to build up and manage your site information - text in various forms, links and - most importantly - your Blog - but it is up to you to make your site content-rich, well connected and updated often. Do that and - over time - you will get durable results. Being on Netcells certainly helps - our Users generally get more than half of their traffic from us. Below are a few tips - taking those into account will make a massive difference to your search engine visibility. Search engines match the TEXT on your site with search keywords (they do not see images or text contained in movies). Your site is rated according to the number of words matched, the traffic it gets, frequency of updates, number of links and other criteria. Therefore the amount and quality of TEXT (NOT images) is of crucial importance. Your site should include meta-tags with specialised and relevant keywords (although Google does not look at them, they are still important to other search engines). You can edit your own meta-tags from within your User Zone. The first place the search engines look is the site's address, when someone is searching for "data" and "soup" and your site is called "datasoup.net" it will automatically come on top of the searches - try it ! So, if you are setting up a new site try to name it in a way that reflects its nature, or you might want to purchase additional domain names and link them to your site. Every few months you should manually submit your site to search engines to improve your ratings (go to a search engine site and look for something like 'Add Site' or 'Add URL' link). There are also web site that do that for you in bulk, but, we advise you don't not submit your main email address, as you might get a shedload. Remember that it takes weeks and even months before the search engines register your site. Being active on social networks (as long as you have your own web site to mention there) plays its role. Paying search engines for priority placing is another way to boost traffic. Search engines like Google have a variety of schemes for boosting traffic through pay-per-click ads etc, those schemes are very tedious and the results uncertain. You might get better results by buying advertising space on specialised sites and networks relevant to your area of activity. |
