the "I-have-nothing-to-hide" attitude is foolish and irresponsible - remember that other people are trusting you with their information which might well be confidential. if your site is hacked that poses potenitial problems for other Users on the same IP.s the minimum security principles: # ALWAYS use ›secure passwords # NEVER send passwords by email, text message or phone - those communication means are NOT secure # ALWAYS access your Webmail and connect to the server via secure (HTTPS) connection # ALWAYS access your web space and management panel (cPanel) via secure (HTTPS / SFTP) # if you run an organization limit the web space and management panel access to a mininum of trustworthy people # if you run an organization limit the number of email accounts to a mininum of trustworthy people # DELETE email accounts no longer in use # apply all updates to your software and devices operating systems (browsers etc) # change your passwords from time to time # protect your devices with security / anti-virus software |
